Publishing standards and author ownership.
These are the working rules behind every project at Books A Nation. They are written so that an author knows, before any fee is agreed, what stays theirs, what we need approval for and what they receive at the end.
1. Your accounts belong to you
Wherever a platform allows it, your book is published under accounts in your own name: Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Draft2Digital and the other stores we set up. You create the account, you enter your own payment and tax details, and you keep the login. If you give us access for the setup period, you can change the password the day we finish. We do not publish an author's book under a Books A Nation account unless the author has asked for that in writing and understands what it means.
2. Rights and royalties
We are a services company, not a traditional publisher. We do not take rights in your manuscript, your artwork or your book. Royalties are paid by the platforms directly to you, under your accounts. Our fee is for the work we do, agreed in advance, and it is the only money we receive for your project. The same position is set out in our Terms of Service.
3. Scope approval and revisions
Work begins after you approve a written, itemised quote. Each service page lists what is included and how many revision rounds come with it. If the scope grows, we tell you before any extra cost is incurred and wait for your agreement. Edits are delivered as visible suggestions you accept or reject; designs are delivered as concepts you choose between; nothing is published until you have approved the final files.
4. Independence from platforms
Amazon, Apple, Google, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, IngramSpark, Lulu, Draft2Digital and the other names on this site are independent companies. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by any of them. We show their names and logos only to indicate where we can publish and distribute your book, and their terms, royalty rates and policies are set by them and can change. Our platform guides describe each one as it is, including its limitations.
5. Portfolio credits and permission
Our portfolio separates two things clearly. Studio concepts are original designs we made to demonstrate our approach; their titles and author names are invented, and they are never presented as published books. Client covers appear only with the author's permission, and a client project gets a detail page only when the author has confirmed the credit and what we actually did. We claim publishing credit only for books whose publishing we handled. If you would rather your book not appear in our portfolio, it will not, and that choice never affects the service you receive.
6. Testimonials
Every author story on this site is submitted by the author in their own words, with their own photo, and shown only after they have confirmed it. We do not write testimonials, invent names or use photographs of people who are not our clients. Authors can ask for their story to be edited or removed at any time by emailing support@booksanation.com.
7. Final files and account handoff
At the end of a project you receive the final deliverables and, where relevant, the source files: edited manuscripts in tracked and clean versions with the style sheet; cover artwork as print-ready PDFs and editable source files; interiors as print PDFs and validated EPUBs; and a handover sheet listing every account, setting and price we configured. Licences for stock imagery or fonts are explained so you know what you may reuse. Once the agreed fee is paid, the deliverables are yours to use, reprint and republish anywhere.
8. What we will not do
We do not guarantee sales, rankings or awards. We do not reproduce other publishers' covers or artwork, and we do not alter or remove other companies' marks to pass work off as our own. We do not publish a book that infringes someone else's rights, and we ask every author to confirm that the material they give us is their own or properly licensed.
